2023: A Year in Review

2023 has been a wonderful year of growth, changes, and opportunities for our team here at Giesler!

Projects/Accomplishments

We have been keeping busy with numerous projects over the course of the year. We were involved in over $300 million dollars in active capture support for multiple large defense companies. We responded to Sources Sought as a SeaPort NxG Small Business Prime, submitted several Navy proposals, and won a large contract with PMW 120!

We continued to meet and work with several small businesses. We enjoyed interviewing Dan Berger and Steve Harris of First Team Cyber to learn more about the upcoming changes for CMMC. And shared some of our retired Navy Captains’ vast array of Navy knowledge in a Navy Business Development Blog Post Series.

We had the opportunity to attend and connect with many wonderful people at five different conferences throughout the year, including the Barksdale Air Force Vendor Expo, the 2023 Robins Requirement Symposium, had the privilege of working with GaTech Research Institute to submit an IWRP bid for MITSM, the 2nd Annual Women’s Business Summit, Ind the International Test and Evaluation Association’s (ITEA) Multi-Domain Operations in an Extended Range Environment Event, and the National Defense Industrial Association’s (NDIA) Fall Forum. We had the opportunity to catch up with old friends and meet many new ones.

We are on track to get our Facility Level Clearance, updated status as a SDVOSB, and to break into the State Government and Commercial Marketplace in 2024!

Personal Highlights

Our President and CEO, Patricia Giesler, had a very busy year! She got to introduce her sister and her sister’s Caspiana Pecans at the Barksdale Vendor Expo. She celebrated her parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and started teaching her 15-year-old how to drive. Her family successfully saw Mr. Giesler through heart surgery and his recovery. Patricia was also able to catch up with some of our team and their family with a get-together in June. She also spent time giving back to her community by leading a girl’s youth small group and supporting an event to combat human trafficking and support homeless Veterans. And even explored and scouted out some of Colorado’s amazing caves!

Our Chief Strategy Officer, Kevin Uhrich, was able to reunite with his shipmates from the USS Garcia (FF 1040) 40 years later with a reunion in Charleston, South Carolina back in May. Kevin has over 40 years of Navy and DoD Contracting experience in In Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) Systems along with a Command Tour in Navy OTH-Radar Systems. He also has almost 2 decades of DoD Contracting experience specializing in Program Management, BD and Capture. As a result, he was sought out as a BD and Capture SME Consultant for several large defense contract opportunities throughout the year.

Our Director of Communications, Thavey Cordoba-Rideout took a trip to Colombia with her husband and kids to visit family and experience the beautiful countryside and amazing food Columbia has to offer. She wears many hats, including now as the President of the non-profit Changing Lives Thailand, which supports the orphans who are living with HIV/AIDS at Agape Home, the orphanage her parents started and continue to run to this day in her native Thailand (Check out more on Agape here).

The rest of our team has been hard at work improving their education. Tara Uhrich Hill completed her Project Management Certification through Google and Alex Boucher started his MBA in North Carolina. Jim Darenkamp completed his second master’s degree, an MBA with an emphasis on Information Security Management from the University of West Florida. Between working on master’s degrees and professional certifications, we had some wonderful experiences in our country’s national parks in between. Wherever our team goes, we follow the idea of “Anchored in Honor.”
