Spotlight on Women: Brigadier General Denise Brown

Brigadier General Jacqueline “Denise” Brown, U.S. Army, is a driving force for interoperability in the current INDOPACOM chain of command, currently serving as the Director J6 for the Command, Control, Communications and Cyber Directorate.

BG Brown was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, but spent most of her childhood in Georgia. In 1992, she graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Production and Operations Management from Georgia Southern University before starting her commission in the Army. She also holds a master’s degree in Telecommunication Management and in Strategic Studies.

Before joining U.S. INDOPACOM, Brown served as J6 Branch Chief on the Joint Staff; Commander, 307th Integrated Theater Signal Battalion, among many other assignments. Then, COL Brown served as commander of the Defense Information System Agency Europe Field Command in Stuttgart, Germany before serving as the Plans and Strategy Division Chief to the Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO/G-6) and later the Executive Officer.

BG Brown has earned many different awards and recognitions. They include the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, and many more.

BG Brown is schedule to speak in next month’s AFCEA TechNet Indo-Pacific Conference, in Honolulu, Hawaii from April 11-13, 2022. She will be on two panels, the J6 Panel: M.A.J.I.C. – MPE, Assured C2, JADC2 Enabling Security and Interoperability with Coalition Partners and Women in AFCEA Panel – Senior Cyber Leaders Discuss Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) Challenges. We look forward to hearing her speak and sharing her insight on these important topics.
